I have to confess my 60+ year old father is faster on a bike than I am. So I spent this 40 mile ride just trying to keep him in my eye sight so I wouldn’t get lost. About half way through I persuaded him to stop for bagels- my feeble attempt to weigh him down with starchy goodness and give myself a chance to keep pace…it didn’t work. This is when remembering why I’m riding is really important. It’s not to be competitive, to be the fastest, to be the next *enter pro-cyclist name*. I’m riding to be strong. Strong enough to raise awareness. Strong enough to ride for those who can’t. I’m riding on behalf of Team YLC in the fight against HIV.
