Jim Morgrage, President of Harbor to the Bay | THIS MOMENT NEVER GROWS OLD FOR ME.
For as many years as we have been organizing and executing in this Ride, this moment of completion is like falling in love over and over again - you take my breath away. When I consider the effort you put into fund raising, the training you undertake, the many ways that you take care of one another on the road, I see the very best of what it is to be a compassionate community. |
We come from all walks of life. We represent a variety of physical abilities. Our identities are as diverse as the United Nations. And yet, through this event, we are united by the desire to be present for those whose lives have been changed by the diagnosis of HIV/AIDS. It is in that coming together that we catch a glimpse of how good it could be; how powerfully we could change the world if we could agree to all work together on behalf of one another.
Playwright George Bernard Shaw wrote: "I am of the opinion that my life belongs to the whole community and as long as I live, it is my privilege to do for it whatever I can." In whatever capacity you were able to participate in this ride, you have given the very best of your life to the whole community and inspired others to get up and do the same. Mothers and fathers; teachers and preachers; legislators and decorators; bartenders and money lenders; united by love, together we can eradicate HIV/AIDS. It our honor, it is our privilege. It is our community.
Keep up the good work, fight the good fight, and we'll you see you here... same time next year.
Until then....thank you and I love you... over and over again!
